GH¢5 price on SIM card self-registration will pass to the App builders – NCA

The Nationwide Communications Authority (NCA) has disclosed that the GH¢5 price at the self-service SIM registration utility will pass to the app developer.

Talking on RCNews, the Deputy Company Affairs Director on the NCA, Kwame Gyan, whilst failing to provide specifics, stated “the cash is going to the app builders; those that constructed and are keeping up the app.”

“It doesn’t pass to the NCA,” Mr. Gyan added.

The federal government introduced that the self-service registration utility, which will likely be made to be had on each Android and IOS platforms, will likely be rolled out from these days.

This used to be along with an extension of the closing date for SIM playing cards to be re-registered with the Ghana Card.

The GH¢5 price has been criticized via some and described as a disincentive.

The Cell Cash Brokers Affiliation complained that this may well be a subject matter for individuals who personal a couple of SIM playing cards.

The federal government had to start with set July 31 because the closing date for all individuals to re-register their SIM playing cards with their Ghana Playing cards.

Individuals who fail to conform to the directive would have their SIM playing cards deactivated.

The laws are to assist legislation enforcement businesses to spot SIM card homeowners, observe criminals who use telephones for unlawful actions, curb telephone robbery, hate textual content messaging, cell fraud actions, and SIM Field fraud.

Statistics from the Nationwide Conversation Authority (NCA) display that as of Thursday, July 21, 2022, 16,969,034 people had registered for the Ghana Card, with about 16,535,623 playing cards revealed, whilst 15,395,607 had connected their Ghana Card to their SIM playing cards.
